Isle of Man trip, April 2016.
After months of planning a group of six R2 members made the long awaited trip to the Isle of Man. Prior contact with the IOM Region through RO Julian Chappell ensured our visit was immensely enjoyable with many lasting memories. Our journey started on Friday 15th April with a drive to Carlisle and a stopover to break up the journey to our ferry departure in Heysham. Five of us made the journey from Aberdeen with our sixth traveller driving even further - from Nairn, near Inverness. Thanks to Julian, Robin, Hamish and Brian for providing additional photos for the slideshows below.
Day 1 photos in slideshow format. Use left/right arrows to step through or choose individual photos from the filmstrip or just click 'Play'.
Day two and meeting up with Region 30 members. It was amazing how much we managed to cram into one day. Our first stop was the grandstand on the TT course for a photo shoot.
After the grandstand we were treated to a splendid run to the south of the island culminating in a coffee stop overlooking the Calf of Man
After a lengthy stop and opportunity to talk all things Porsche, we were off again. This time to the Isle of Man Motor Museum - what a treat this turned out to be!
And still there was more. After visiting the southern tip of the island at Calf of Man we took a run up to the northerly tip at Point of Aire.
Day three found us visiting a few places we hadn't previously been - and some we had to go back to ...
Finally our trip was over. Our return journey started with an 8am ferry trip to Heysham.
A wonderful trip with great memories and new friends. Thanks to Julian and the R30 members for looking after us so well.
